Beihang International Summer School 2026
Introduction:
This theme explores the frontier where biological wisdom meets chemical innovation, focusing on the development of materials and processes that mimic the efficiency, resilience, and adaptability of the natural world. By decoding the structural and functional secrets of nature—from the self-cleaning properties of lotus leaves to the intricate molecular machinery of enzymes—researchers can engineer next-generation solutions for global challenges.
Core Research Pillars:
Biomimetic Synthesis & Intelligent Materials: Utilizing Colloidal Chemistry and Biomimetic Polymer Chemistry to create "smart" materials, such as Intelligent Liquid Crystals, that respond dynamically to environmental stimuli.
Biolubrication & Surface Engineering: Investigating natural lubrication mechanisms to develop advanced Polymer Composites that reduce friction and wear in mechanical and biomedical systems.
Bio-inspired Robotics & Sensing: Integrating soft material control and Origami Configurations with Conformal Electronics to build soft robots that move and sense with biological precision.
