【Biography】

Assoc. Prof. Baolei Liu is a faculty member of Instrumentation and Opto-electronic Engineering, Beihang University, and also a joint member of the Sustainable Photonics Research Center of Beihang Hangzhou International Innovation Institute. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. His research primarily focuses on computational imaging and sensing oriented toward the demands of the aerospace industry and biomedical engineering, particularly for intelligent imaging and detection applications. His work includes single-pixel imaging/ghost imaging, on-chip multidimensional imaging and devices, fiber-optic imaging, computational spectrometers, super-resolution imaging, and related areas. He is committed to pushing the limits of existing optoelectronic imaging and detection technologies and developing more streamlined and efficient hardware systems.

To date, he has published multiple papers as first or corresponding author in leading journals in the field, including Light: Science & Applications, Optica, Laser & Photonics Reviews (×2), Photonics Research, Nano Letters (×2), Advanced Science, Optics Express, and Optics Letters. As a co-author, he has also published in Nature Photonics, eLight, and Advanced Materials, with a total of more than 40 journal publications and over 10 patents granted or under application. He has served as Principal Investigator of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Young Scientists Fund, the Innovation Fund of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (Special Funding and General Program), among others, and has participated in key projects under the NSFC Joint Fund. He has supervised students who have received multiple Best Presentation/Poster Awards at academic conferences, and guided students to win the Second Prize in the Beijing Division of the “China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2025)”.
